SwitchDin submission to ESB EVSE standing data consultation paper

The Energy Security Board (ESB) is proposing a new national database of electric vehicle charging equipment, which would include their locations and various technical specifications. SwitchDin supports the ESB’s goal and we suggest ways to streamline the data collection and minimise unnecessary paperwork.

To avoid duplication, we propose the ESB should work with state vehicle registration and electrical safety authorities.

To avoid unnecessary manual data entry we suggest ways to digitise data collection using remote communication by distribution networks. This could start as early as 1 July 2023, when new solar and battery connections in South Australia will be interoperable with the SA Power Networks utility server.
