SwitchDin submission to AEMC Draft Report of the Review of CER Technical Standards

Australia’s regulatory framework for monitoring and enforcement of technical standards for rooftop solar and batteries is completely inadequate. Less than half of systems installed are set correctly to the required standard. Leaving it to states and distribution networks to make up their own rules is a recipe for chaos and confusion.

The system needs urgent repair. The Australian Energy Market Commission has been tinkering around the edges of this issue for years and has made no real progress. Australia needs a National Technical Regulator responsible for distributed energy resources.
