SwitchDin submission to review of Code of Conduct for Embedded Networks

SwitchDin welcomes the proposal by WA Energy Minister, Bill Johnston, and the Cook Government to introduce a  new code for embedded network services to protect customers in Western Australia (WA).

With a growing number of customers in embedded networks installing rooftop solar and other forms of consumer energy resources, the impact of embedded networks on management of the grid must be addressed.

SwitchDin recommends WA adopt the approach being taken in South Australia, where embedded networks can avoid the strict rules that apply to medium-sized generation provided the embedded network is capable of flexible exports. This approach simplifies the connections process while assisting with grid management, enabling more solar generation and reducing electricity costs for all consumers.
